Dr Dean Newland BSc (Hons) BVSc (Hons)
Dean grew up locally in the area and attended Buckley Park High School. He graduated in 1995 and joined the hospital in 1997 after returning from working overseas and is proud to have forged a long lasting professional relationship with his clientele over many years.
His special interests are ophthalmology and feline internal medicine.
Dr Jennifer (Jen) Oakman BVSc (Hons)
Jen also grew up locally and graduated in 2005. Jen worked in a mixed animal practice for three years before joining Moonee Valley Animal Hospital in 2010. Jen enjoys challenging medical cases and soft tissue surgery and our clientele especially love Jen’s compassion for sick animals.
Jen likes to travel and is always looking to further her knowledge and career by undertaking courses and training.
Kristy is our receptionist and nurse manager. She joined the clinic in 2005 as a vet nurse, left to pursue other career opportunities and then returned to Moonee Valley Animal Hospital in 2013. She is a fully qualified Vet Nurse (Cert IV).
At home, Kristy loves spending time with her husband, son and cavoodle, Kerri, and will be going on maternity leave very soon to have her second child.
Jade is a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV) and also holds a Diploma in General Veterinary Nursing. Jade joined Moonee Valley Animal Hospital in 2004.
At home, Jade has three boys; a husband that runs his own business, one staffy, a bull mastiff, two cats and breeds mini lop bunnies.
Tanya is a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV) and also holds a Diploma in General Veterinary Nursing. Tanya joined Moonee Valley Animal Hospital in 2007.
At home, Tanya has three children; a staffy and a cat.
Joanne is a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV). Joanne joined Moonee Valley Animal Hospital in 1988.
Joanne is our longest serving staff member and worked in the original practice before the purpose built facility was built.
Liz is a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV). Liz joined Moonee Valley Animal Hospital in 2011.
At home, Liz has five 5 children, a husband, a Jack Russell Terrier X Maltese and a cat
Melissa is currently studying to complete her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Melissa joined Moonee Valley Animal Hospital in 2010.
At home, Melissa has a staffy and two cats.
Sami is currently studying to complete her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Sami joined Moonee Valley Animal Hospital in 2011.
At home, Sami has two cats and a special interest in birds.
Eevie – Resident Cat
Eevie is now the lone resident cat at Moonee Valley Animal Hospital since her sister Scarlett was put to sleep in July 2012. Eevie will often greet our clients at the reception desk and is always happy to lap up pats and compliments.
Eevie is a well regarded and respected member of the Moonee Valley Animal Hospital and will hopefully be with us for many years to come.
Cate O’Donoghue – Practice Owner
Cate O’Donoghue is the daughter of the late founder of the clinic Sean O’Donoghue. Before taking over the management of the clinic when Sean passed away Cate was also the Saturday morning nurse. Cate maintains her interest in the clinic and it’s clients and is a regular at our fortnightly meetings.
